# What O.Translator (otranslator.com) charges, and how long it keeps files

O.Translator (otranslator.com) translates PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and EPUB files in over 100 languages and bills in prepaid credits, one credit per 3,000 tokens in standard mode plus a one-credit analysis fee[1]. It reads scanned PDFs with OCR and keeps paid documents for 30 days[2]. LoreAI's first document is free and comes back as an editable Word file.

## What is O.Translator?

O.Translator is an online document translator made by Office Translator, Inc., a company located in Delaware[2]. Its homepage lists over 100 languages and over 50 file formats, and names DL.Translator as a related brand[2]. You upload a file, check a partial preview and a quote, then confirm and download the full translation[2].

It says your document is processed by the third party AI provider you select[2], and its terms say your files and translations are not used to train general purpose or third party AI models[3].

## How does O.Translator price a translation?

You buy credits up front, and there is no monthly fee[1]. Each job costs a base fee for analysing the document plus credits for its tokens, and the rate depends on the mode[1].

- **Standard mode**: 1 credit per 3,000 tokens, plus 1 credit base fee, at least 2 credits for a full translation[1]
- **Advanced models**: 1 credit per 1,000 tokens, about 3 times the standard rate[1]
- **Scanned PDF**: Estimated at 1,200 tokens a page[1]
- **Credit price**: $0.13 a credit, at least 15 credits. $5 buys 48 credits, $15 buys 168 and $60 buys 720[1]
- **Expiry and refunds**: Credits never expire[1], and they are not refundable except after a verified technical fault[3]

Its own example puts a 15,000 token document at 6 credits[1]. By the same table, a 2-page scan in standard mode is estimated at 2,400 tokens, which is less than 1 credit plus the base fee, so the 2-credit minimum applies[1]. That is about 26 cents at the single-credit rate. The quote on the task page is what you pay, and OCR and the model you pick change it[1].

## Is the preview free?

Sometimes. O.Translator says the preview covers part of the document, and how much depends on the document and your account's free quota[4]. That quota is not a fixed number of files, and when it runs out a preview can cost credits, shown on the task page before you continue[4]. It also says a preview does not guarantee the quality of the whole document[4].

## Does O.Translator handle scanned PDFs?

Yes. Its FAQ says OCR reads text from scanned PDFs and images, that results depend on scan quality and layout, and that an enhanced recognition option helps with pages that are hard to read[2]. Its PDF page adds that complex tables, scanned pages and text in images may need manual review[5].

What you download is the translated document in its layout[2]. For PDFs you can also download a bilingual PDF, with the original on the left and the translation on the right, or one above the other[6]. We did not find an option on its pages that turns a scanned PDF into a Word file.

## How long does O.Translator keep your files?

Unpaid documents are deleted 15 days after the task is created and paid documents after 30 days[7]. You can delete a task from your history sooner[7]. For a birth certificate or a passport scan, delete the task once you have downloaded the result.

LoreAI deletes the upload right after reading it and the results about an hour later, unless you turn on Keep my translated documents.

## Which one fits your document?

- Pick O.Translator for a long typed PDF, an EPUB, a slide deck or a spreadsheet that has to come back in its own layout, or when you want a bilingual PDF to proofread.
- Pick O.Translator if you translate now and then and prefer paying per job to a subscription.
- Pick LoreAI for a scan or a phone photo of a certificate, a transcript or a form, when you want a Word file you can correct before you hand it in.
- For a comparison with another credit-based tool, see the [Doclingo review](https://www.loreai.org/compare/doclingo).

Neither one certifies a translation. LoreAI is not a certified translation service. The [guide to getting a certified translation](https://www.loreai.org/how-to-get-a-certified-translation) explains the steps for an authority.
