How to combine PDF files
- Choose the PDF files. Pick 2 to 20 files, up to 50 MB and 300 pages together. You can add more from another folder before you merge.
- Set the order. The list under the box is the order of the files in the new PDF. The arrow moves a file up one place and the cross takes it out.
- Press Merge the PDFs. Merging takes a few seconds. The next screen shows the page count and the size of the new file.
- Download the merged PDF. It holds every page of every file, in your order, with nothing added.
Merging reads no text, so it costs nothing to run and needs no account. One connection can merge 30 times an hour and 100 times a day.
What the merged PDF keeps
- Pages
- Every page of every file, in the order of the list
- Quality
- Unchanged, nothing is saved again or shrunk
- Text
- Still selectable and searchable where it was before
- Page sizes
- Each page keeps its own size, so A4 and Letter pages can sit side by side
- Watermark
- None
- Password protected files
- Refused by name. Remove the password first
The file name of the merged PDF comes from the first file in the list, with merged added to it.
An original and its translation in one file
Immigration files are a common reason to merge. USCIS asks that any document in a foreign language come with a full English translation, certified by a translator as complete and accurate[1]. One PDF that holds the original, then the translation, then the translator's certification keeps the three together for an upload or a printout.
The certificate of translation generator fills in the translator's statement as a Word file. Save it and the translation as PDF, then merge them here behind the original.
Other ways to merge PDFs
On a Mac, open the PDFs in Preview, show the thumbnails with View, then Thumbnails, and drag pages from the sidebar of one PDF into the other[2]. Preview saves the change into that file, so Apple suggests duplicating the originals first[2]. In the Finder, Quick Actions, then Create PDF also joins files, in the order you selected them[3].
The tool on this page works the same in any browser, on Windows, a Mac, a Chromebook or a phone, and it never changes your original files. When the merged PDF is too large to send, run it through the PDF compressor. To turn photos into PDF pages first, use the JPG to PDF converter.
Translate the documents you merged
When one of the documents is in a language you need translated, Translate this PDF on the result screen opens the merged file in the LoreAI app. LoreAI reads it with OCR and returns an editable Word file in one of 105 languages, with tables, stamps and headings in their places. Your first document is free, up to 3 pages.
LoreAI is not a certified translation service. Where an office asks for a certified translation, a translator signs a statement for the Word file.

Yes. There is no account, no charge and no watermark. One connection can merge 30 times an hour, up to 20 files each time.
Does merging lower the quality of my PDFs?

Can I change the order of the files?
Yes. The list under the box is the order of the merged PDF. Move a file up with the arrow or take it out with the cross.
