What OnlineDocTranslator does with your document

OnlineDocTranslator (onlinedoctranslator.com) is a free site, with no sign-up, that sends your document's text to Google Translate and puts the translation back into the layout[1]. Its upload page turns away files over 10 MB[2], and a scanned PDF has to go through a separate OCR converter first[1]. LoreAI reads the scan itself and returns an editable Word file.

Is Online Doc Translator the same as DocTranslator?

Not as far as their own pages show. onlinedoctranslator.com names its provider as Online Doc Translator in its terms[3], and its footer reads Copyright DocTranslator[1]. doctranslator.com says it launched in 2021 and is run by Translation Cloud LLC in New York[4], while onlinedoctranslator.com counts documents translated since 2010[1]. Neither site says it owns the other.

The two work differently. doctranslator.com has accounts, paid plans and its own AI engine, and our DocTranslator review covers its prices. onlinedoctranslator.com is free and says it uses Google Translate[1]. Check the address bar before you compare anything.

Is Online Doc Translator free?

Yes. Its FAQ says every format is translated free of charge, with no registration and no software to install[1]. The site pays for itself with ads. Its terms say the service is free for individuals in return for showing ads when you convert and view documents[3], and its privacy policy names Ezoic as the ad partner that may set third-party cookies[5].

Does Online Doc Translator translate scanned PDFs?

Not directly. Its FAQ says you can translate scanned text, but you first convert the scan to Word on a partner site, PDF to Word Converter, which reads scanned PDF, PNG and JPG files with OCR[1]. Its upload page carries the same message for scanned files[2]. JPG and PNG are not on its own list of formats[1].

So a scanned certificate takes two sites and two downloads, and you check the OCR result before you translate it. LoreAI does both steps in one upload. It reads the PDF, JPG or PNG with OCR, translates it into one of 105 languages and returns a Word file with headings, lists and tables in the original order.

Does it keep the layout, and what do you download?

It says it takes the text out, has Google Translate translate it and puts the translation back where each piece of text was, so you download the same kind of file you uploaded[1]. According to the FAQ, a translated PDF keeps its original layout[1]. For a Word or PowerPoint file you already own, that is often all you need.

The site makes no promise about quality. The FAQ says it gives no guarantee for the translations, does not recommend using them in a professional context, and says they are no substitute for a professional translation[1].

Is Online Doc Translator safe?

Its privacy policy says uploaded documents are deleted from its servers within 1 hour, and that the content of each upload is shared with Google Translate to process it[5]. The FAQ adds that the site does not store document contents in its databases[1]. It also collects your IP address, browser details and cookies for analytics and targeted ads[5].

For a typed letter or a manual, that is a reasonable trade. For a passport, a birth certificate or a bank statement, decide whether you are comfortable with the text going to Google and the page carrying ad trackers. LoreAI deletes the upload right after reading it and the results about an hour later, unless you turn on Keep my translated documents.
